Sumerian (x6) Gematria Cipher
Sumerian gematria multiplies the English Ordinal value of each letter by six, so A = 6, B = 12 and Z = 156. Totals are always multiples of six.
The Sumerian (x6) table
How it works
Calculate the English Ordinal value and multiply the total by six. This is why a Sumerian total divided by six always gives the ordinal total.
Worked examples
- Light: L (72) + I (54) + G (42) + H (48) + T (120) = 336
- Wisdom: W (138) + I (54) + S (114) + D (24) + O (90) + M (78) = 498
- Karma: K (66) + A (6) + R (108) + M (78) + A (6) = 264

Where it comes from
The name is a modern label. It does not mean this table was used in ancient Sumer, and it has no connection to the Sumerian language or its number system, which was based on 60.
Frequently asked questions
Is Sumerian gematria really Sumerian?
No. It is a modern naming convention for the "ordinal times six" table. Treat the label as a name only.
How do I convert Sumerian to Ordinal?
Divide the Sumerian total by 6.
